Single MX-R's Available on The Used Market?
 

Hi:
I have a pair of MX-R Twenty amps for my FR and FL speakers in a 5.2.4 system. I want to use another MX-R Twenty for my center channel. A VX-5 Twenty is being used, in bi-amp mode, as a center channel amp. I want to move the VX-5 to rear speaker duty and insert another MX-R (Twenty) to power the center speaker.
I only see MX-R's sold in pairs. Do they ever become available as single amps on the used market? Does anybody know where I can find a single MX-R?

Seriously, MX-Rs are usually purchased in stereo pairs, but there are many here and elsewhere using them for home theaters so used MX-Rs occasionally come up for sale in odd numbers of units.

I've seen singles for sale, although rare. Will take patience.

I've seen a couple of singles in the last year. Not many people are well heeled enough to use a monoblock of that caliber for a center channel so I expect they will continue to be hard to come by.

There is one going for AU $3600.00 on stereo net Australia....240 volt version, can't send the link but go to stereo net classifieds and search for Ayre. Bargain if you can retap the transformer????

Just call Michael at Ayre and ask him how much it would be for them to do it for you. I personally would only let them do it for many reasons.

I bought the single amp on Audiogon. I'm in Ayre heaven! Now all Ayre amplification in my system. Three MX-R Twenty's across the front make a significant improvement over the VX-5 driving the center when listening to multi-channel audio disks, blu rays, etc.
