Chippy the chipmunk

Found this guy lost and scared out of his wits when he must have been no more than a few weeks old near the backyard patio. I’ve seen the adult chipmunks and their hiding holes in the grass so I picked him up in my hand and put him there in the hopes he is one of theirs and will continue to be fed by the mom. From his tiny size I was pretty sure he was still dependent on mom’s milk.

Didn’t see him around for another few weeks until he suddenly appeared and looked in good health. I guess he really was reunited with his mom. Amazingly enough he was not in the least bit scared to be within an arms reach from me and was looking straight at me as if to say “hey thanks for saving me”!

I was enjoying my morning cup of coffee at that time and I decided to treat him to some seeds which he gladly accepted. It has become a daily ritual as long as the weather allows it and we often share the morning moments together, me sipping on coffee and “Chippy” enjoying his breakfast within an arms reach from me. Cute little guy. Here is Chippy from earlier today. https://youtu.be/Q-IqLBUWKdo

Very cool Serge.

Thanks for posting. My wife does the same thing - she thought there was only one "Chippy" at our house until she saw 8 of them in our screened in porch, feasting on a bag of almonds!

She now buys them organic nuts and seeds to feed them. Kinda crazy in my book but she doesn't say anything about my high-priced cables! :D

Chipmunks seem to be less afraid of humans and we can get very close to them before they run away. We have yet to have one get as close as your Chippy!

Thanks, Serge for posting the info...
A BIG prayer goes out to the little guy..hope he make it OK.
I'm partial to small animals being a owner and breeder of gerbils for many years.
