Colin's system sounds good.
We listened to a lot of his favourite music.
Different styles, jazz, folk, blues, jazz, it all showed what the Devialets are capable of.
The source was a SilenZio, that streams the bits and Bytes through his home network to the Devialet.

I stupidly forgot to bring some classical music - the only gap in Colin't collection - but I found Mahler's 3rd in my car.
A very dynamic work.
Good recording too.

I know it by heart, so this was the perfect piece to evaluate the room and the gear.
We listened to the first movement, with the Marantz as transport.

I found the marriage of the Devialets with the Vivid Audio G2s a very successful one.
Laurence Dickie has G3s at home, with a Devialet Premier driving them, so...

Colin, and especially Chris are pet lovers.

The G2 Giyas threw a wonderfully large soundstage, sounded very transparent, had a lot of slam (somewhere in the middle of that first movement, in the calm there is suddenly an enormous whack from the percussion section: Chris literally jumped half a meter up from her chair!).

The room is not really treated, but I think it doesn't need it so much.
There is a carpet that is very useful.
Some curtains also help.
All in all, this is a top system.
Meta found it sounded a bit more flat than at our place.
But this might just be our system that is a bit coloured?

The Vivid Audio G2 Giya is a fantastic speaker.
I've heard them in various systems, and when well set up, they always deliver the goods.
That is clearly the case at Colin's place.

Colin treated me too well: he invited/forced me to always sit in the sweet spot.
The Vivids have a large sweet spot, but still.
I felt like a king.

This pic could easily be posted in your thread Dan! :D

Awesome that you could meet in England and visit with Colin & his wife Chris. Very nice system he has for sure and doesn't hurt any to get out and visit/sightsee especially with folks who are familiar with the area.

Awesome pictures too - many thanks for those.

The reciprocal visit will be just as cool.

Best Sir,

Bob

Bart.......Thank you for sharing your visit with us. Many thanks to Meta for the amazing photographs.

I believe the rack in question is a Quadraspire X-Reference audio rack. They are beautiful and showcase equipment so well.
