802D3 and DBxD Subwoofer Combination
Curious if any 802 D3 owners have experience with DB1D, DB2D or DB3D subwoofers. For music, what is the impact? Are the subs a good match and worthwhile addition? I'm considering a pair of DB2D to fit within the space constraints of our room. I’ve seen some conversation tangentially on the topic in other threads but would appreciate any impressions specific to this combination.

I had similar questions and am still left a little bewildered. I am struggling between a B&W DB2D, DB1D, Rel S5HO, or JL. The RELs seem to require being a pair, the JL seems to require a $3k CR1 crossover, and the B&W subs seem to have an issue with using single ended (RCA) connections.
So as a result, I have not done anything yet and am still trying to learn. Michael |
Please read the tag on New DB subwoofers outlining my experience with my 805D3

Thanks all. I’ve read the other threads on the site, and I won’t be connecting via RCA. My local dealer has had a lot of happy DBxD customers. I’m hoping to get some first hand thoughts from owners here, particularly in combo with 802D3 for music. They’ll be going into a tougher room with space limitations that make it hard to fit REL or JL. The DSP features are intriguing for this as well.

I really want the B&W to work and it will blend better with my B&W 802D3 speakers. I will follow this thread with interest..

Don’t think using RCA is the issue. I am using XLR inputs and still get a significant reduction in volume when I select stereo input on the app. Switch it to LFE input and volume is fine. This is the way I have mine setup but depending on your setup you may not be able to do this.

With LFE you are getting full spectrum of sound unless you have it filter through a subwoofer processor.

I am thinking about BD1D with 800D3, would be using XLR and pre-out from my preamp
Anyone try something like that? |
