C2300 passthru issue

Listening to music on my c2300 via a node2 and when I switch on my pre/Pro to watch a movie. It automatically switches the c2300 to passthru but I can hear a faint song still playing from the node2, Something is still coming thru.

I’m using the xlr input labeled cdr (input 7) from my pre/pro to the c2300 and input 6 via rca for the node2 connection.

The node2 can also act as a preamp therefore it has both variable and fixed gain. When connected to another preamp, the C2300 in this case, you set the gain to fixed or max gain on the node2. So I tried switching it to variable and turned the gain all the way off and the music bleeding through went away. When I maxed it out it sounded just like it did on fixed gain. I litterally have to put my ear to the tweeter to hear it but I’m still not sure it should be there. It’s the same thing on any input even th ones that turned off.

The shop I bought it from is going to expiriment with one of their C2300 to see if they can duplicate.

Anybody have any ideas? Is this normal?

I do not have the issue.

If the cable from the node 2 and either one of the cables from your pre/pro are parallel, separate them.
Otherwise it is just some crosstalk between inputs inside your preamp.
I don't have my C2300 setup in HT so can't duplicate it, but I if I switch to an unused input and turn the volume way up I can hear my DAC playing very faintly if I put my ear right up to the speaker.

Thanks for the info, so maybe it is normal than to have a little crosstalk.

My next experiment will be to have the node2 playing on its regular input and switch to unused input and listen for anything.

Like you, I have to put my ear next to the speaker to hear it.

Quick update, McIntosh engineering pulled a c2300to to try and replicate. Still waiting for results.

Might want to try better cables.

Current cables are legacy audio quest Jaguars.

Another quick update. Dealer whom I bought the unit from (used) is swapping it with another unit as they can't duplicate it. Fingers crossed this one is good to go, dealer has been very helpful all the way through.
