It looks like you would have to use the coax output if you wanted to use the dac in your, say, K-01x. Appears Esoteric intended the N-05 to be primarily a stand - alone source, rather than a server to another dac. Of course, there is always the chance that it will sound as good as a server, as the K-01X sounds as a player! Ted.

What's the control software for the N05 like? Is it compatible with Roon?

The software is not Roon-ready and is only for iPad now.
Android users like me need to wait a while more.
The app is quite like the Lumin's.
