Unboxing XVX Acoustic Diodes

First look at my specially manufactured acoustic diodes for my XVX.

Note the specially manufactured for me short spike length

Some folks may think that Wilson speakers lack an elaborate base such as the M line of the Magico's. However the X-Material base is manufactured into and a part of the bottom of the speaker. My XX sets on about 5 solid inches of X-Material. Then there is the ultra cool acoustic diode with V-Material that the base sets on.

Best

Congratulations Charles! I don't know who says that... Wilson is among the very best when it comes to bass quality.

Please share your thoughts after setting up.

I will be getting these for my Alexx.

Maybe you meant the base footers or materials? When compared to the magico?

Marc, you are correct. "Base" not "bass" Most expensive speakers with elaborate bases have no spike plate. Wilson's have spike plates of X-Material of varying thicknesses that function as a built in base. It may be awhile before these beauties are installed as I am purchasing some Mac that will be arriving first week in July. When I went over to the dealer to pick them up he said it would be "all hands on deck" to spike my speakers, so I'm going to have it all done in one trip/install. I think this Wilson Specialties Division is the best idea to come along in a long time. I'm glad both of us have the opportunity to take advantage of it. It's a logical extension of Wilson which has always been an exotic cabinet/materials company.

I recently had the pleasure to A/B these diodes vs Stillpoints Ultra 5’s on the Alexx. The owner chose the Ultra 5’s after a rather short demo time frame.

Maybe he will chime in.

Hmmmm...the Stillpoints are a whopping $2,400. more than the Wilson's.

Can the stillpoints be used with a spike?

Price is irrelevant with speakers at this price point. Stillpoints Ultra 5’s can be used with their spikes.

Fair enough. I would be more interested in knowing how the new Wilson diodes sounded compared to the diodes that came with the speakers.

Just received word that MCT 500 is in house and that MVP 901 is most likely not far behind. I will have everything installed together. Charles
