C2600 tubes

Any suggestions from owners of the C2600 preamp on tubes for the main stage and MC phono stage? I believe the MC uses two 12AX7 and main uses a 12AX7 and a 12AT7. Looking not to break the bank (i.e. no more than $100/tube or a total outlay of $400). Thanks in advance.

In my C2300 I had used Teles in the MC stage and Gold Lions in the Main stage. Left the Mc brand in the MM stage.

Like many owners I have tended to use the Genalex Gold Lion tubes. They won’t break the bank and sound very good. The tube compliment is (5) 12AX7 and (1) 12AT7.

+1 on the Genalex Gold Lion tubes. I used them in my c2500 and loved them.

Thanks guys. I may have been a bit premature on the C2600 - my deal did not consummate but I at least have the C2300

Don’t give up on the C2600. I see them posted on Usaudiomart and Audiogon.

No disrespect to the C2600 or C2600 owners as it’s a great preamp but I would keep the C2300. I think it’s a future classic.

The only reason I was contemplating the C2600 was the onboard DAC to use my MCT450 with it. I know I could get a D150 (had one previously), but need to keep number of pieces to a minimum. Plan to keep both MC275 MkVI, preamp and MCT450, or fanagle a SACD player somehow.

I get the advantages of an onboard DAC, but if you’re going to do that, wait for a used C2700 so that you can at least have the ability to upgrade the DAC.

I’m also running Gold Lions in my C2600. I’m just the opposite as I’ve never used the dac in the C2600. Going to upgrade to the C1100 shortly and probably roll in Gold Lions again
