I actually just ordered 2 more Hurricanes - they worked out especially well on the tube monoblocks in my main system. I'm really a believer now. This will make 5 'Canes for me, but I still won't be at "every component" yet, because I'm outfitting both a 2ch system and a high-end headphone system. I figure my new headphone amp that draws over 200 Watts (continuously), and pushes out up to almost 2,000 Volts, might as well be a power amp and could probably benefit optimally from the 'Canes...so it'll be wall to 'Cane to Niagara 1000 to 'Cane to "the beast" :D https://i.imgur.com/ylGxqYB.png |

So you switched all AQ PC to 'Canes? |

Not quite yet, though I might continue working towards it. I have 3 'Canes out of 5 total cords in the main system, and will have 2 out of 4 on the headphone system, once the new order arrives. I think as we discussed before, I'm not sure if there will be too much improvement replacing the WEL NRG's on phono & preamp (which are already excellent cords), but who knows maybe it'll happen when the whole system becomes uniform 'Canes. I'll "borrow" the 2 from the headphone system and try it out. I was most blown away by putting the 'Canes on my tube monoblocks (replacing NRG 1000's). It made them sound smoother and more powerful and authoritative. Holy crap, I've been enjoying that 2ch system like never before since then - genuinely ecstatically happy with the sound, and I've been going crazy buying vinyl in response. It finally feels like the system has "arrived". That gave me enough confidence in these cords to get the next 2. And it looks like AQ has changed the sheath from black & red to black & blue. Weird! Maybe not a thrill for those of us who'll end up with mixed braids, but I care a lot less about that then some do. |

I am balking at buying a Hurricane for my amplifier.
I think it will have to be done, but it may be a few months on down the road. I just replaced my AC duplex throughout the system with Furutech GTX, some GTX-D gold, Some GTX-D NCF Rhodium. Major improvements in clarity with the duplex. Even to the point I can plug in an old 'cheap' plug like a basic wattgate, and 'hear' the smear caused by the brass parts? in the plug. (I am guessing it is caused by the brass, as the Furutech use pure copper, with a unique spring system so they do not get bent up) I only gradually replace the duplex, so for two months I was going through break in annoyances, particularly a problem with the Rhodium parts. Treble, too much treble due to break in. Then not, then two days later back again. I never had a big investment in powercords, so for me Pangea has been a 'good enough' cord, up to now. With the Furutech duplex and the changes they have brought, I am getting ready to buy some real power cords. |
