F110 officially discontinued

The Fathom line now officially starts with the F112.

Guess it wasn't a big seller obviously.

Gotta say, for the limited time I had f110v2 in my system, it transformed the small room I had. It is one of the few pieces I did not sell when I dismantled my system last year. Glad I held onto her. Collectors item! :)

Ditto

Why did they discontinue the F110? Is there a big difference between the F110 and F112?

audiohippo 03-29-2017 07:32 AM

For music the F110 is a cracker. It's fast & compact and just adds that little bit extra bottom end to older recordings or those which were done on a Monday or Friday.

Well, I just experimented with an F112 since my post and in my room, with my equipment I prefer the F112 over two F110s. It wasn't a direct comparison, but based on my memory when I had dual F110s. I only have one F110 and to my ears it's easy to hear the difference between it and the F112.

Attachment 49909Not only does the F112 v2 sound better, I submit it looks better and more appropriate with my system.

For some reason I was thinking the F110 was discontinued quite a while ago....?

Anyway it's not like there isn't a JL 10" offering. The E-series E110 works great in my bedroom system.

E110x2. +1

I will add another F112 in a month or two.

I still have 2 F110’s. They are nice little subs. For sure they don’t have the wallop of the F112’s but they are easier to move around. That is why I didn’t get F112’s plus I thought they would blend better with my Maggie’s. Not sure if that is true but they are seamless.

I have a pair of e110s and they are surprisingly good. Besides, the EQ is of little value to me as I have other resources for it.

Vintage Pete 12-30-2017 08:58 PM

I now have two E-110's in my newly converted bedroom 5.1 channel system, and they are doing a fabulous job for me. In a smaller room
(approx 144 sq ft in this case) they will rock the house down, and sound fabulous at the same time.

Awesome about the 110's - but that's a really nice Salt lamp and Galileo thermometer.

Ha! I have the same Galileo thermometer in my music library! Cool little device. Nice subwoofers of course too!

Very sorry to learn this.
Started with a pair F113 v1, then tried a pair of F110 v1, kept the F110 because they carried a faster pace with my planars than the F113s.
I am really sorry to see the F110 go.

audiohippo 12-16-2020 03:14 PM

Happy F110 owner here! While it’s not in my main system anymore (now dual F113s), I’m still using the F110 in a 3.1 bookshelf system.

It’s an awesome subwoofer with great output and super compact.

Just to update this thread, note that there is an f110v2 available.

Thanks Kal. You beat me to it. I love mine! And, yes, you DO need two of them.
