Ktema Review

High Fidelity

Another collector's piece from Mr. Serblin.

They just don't do it for me. :dunno:

In most pictures it's hard to get a sense of the scale of Ktema. In the review you finally see that it is not so massive as it first appeared in many pictures. Looking at the specs, it's slightly smaller than Futura except in width. There Futura is just under an inch narrower.

Tommy.......Thanks for the link. An enjoyable read. It appears the Ktema is another spectacular Franco Serblin contribution to audio enthusiasts. I have to admit the shape would take some getting use to.

The Ktema is a fantastic sounding speaker. Anyone contemplating a speaker of size similar to the Amati should definitely listen to the Ktema. It sounds brilliant.

Although I prefer the looks of Strad's and Elispsa's, I like the Ktema styling over other products in the SF line. I sure would like to hear a pair.

Hello Guys,
the pairs revived in High Fidelity belongs to my friend so I have few times the opportunity to audition this speaker. The friend of mine has Sonus Fabre Stradivari and Ktema so I have opportunity to audition both speakers in the same system and the same room. I have to say that I would have very hard choice if I have to pick up one of them. Ktema is more suited for smaller rooms, Stradivarii for larger ones.

The sonic signature of Ktema is more similar to old Guarneri Homage. Extremely pure, sophisticated, dynamic with good bass extension. The most impressive aspect of the Ktema is their sound stage - very wide and deep. In direct comparison with Stradivari Ktema is more neutral sounding speaker and less warm in sound. Stradivari is born to play classical music, Ktema is more universal speaker.
Personally I like the warmth and magic of Stradivari, however in some music it may sound a little slow (especially on bass). The soundstage is not so impressive, but form me I prefer Stradivari for their look and in larger room it probably would be my choice.

I would love to see monitor speaker from Franco Serblin and direct compare it to announced Guarneri Futura.

The Ktema is growning on me . It looks like the offspring of the Elipsa combined with the Futura. Here is a picture of this love child :D One thing for sure is that we have some great new products to choose from. Hi end is alive and well.

Design wise, I'd prefer the Ktema over the Amati Futura.

Not sure if I could ever get used to the appearance. The sound would really have to knock my socks off.
