Jriver help with macbook?

Tried their FAQ forum, google, reading hundreds of related posts but I’m still stuck...I can’t get jriver to recognize my portable device.

-Astell & Kern AK380 portable player (latest software)
-JRiver MC24 installed and loaded with music.
-MacBook Pro High Sierra (10.13.6)
-using AK USB cable, android transfer opens and I can load/delete the music manually so I know the issue is jriver not seeing the player and not a hardware issue

When MC24 is opened, and AK380 is plugged in it's not recognized automatically as it should be.

When MC/Options/Handheld/Device Management is pulled up, I get "(No handhelds present)"
If I use "Add device", nothing is found
If I use "Redetect all devices", nothing is found.

Can anyone suggest a way to get my AK380 to be recognized and sync'd with MC24 (or possibly an older version)?

If you know this to be NOT possible for some reason, open to suggestions on which software to use for library/organization and syncing.

I use JRiver, but with Windows and a different DAP. Nevertheless, I have had a similar issue. The solution was to, in order: Perform a reset on the DAP; connect DAP to PC; then open JRiver. I run into the issue you've reported whenever I change that sequence.

Have you gone into Audio MIDI setup on your MacBook to see if the Mac is seeing your Astell & Kern AK380?

Sometimes, I have to enable my Oppo HA-2 there before JRiver sees it.

I have to toggle the device in Audio MIDI setup and select my Oppo.

Try that and see if then JRIVER see it.

JRiver on Mac

I don't have the Astrall and Kern player, but the previous post is correct - if the device is not seen by the MacBook (when plugged in), JRiver can't see it either.

DLNA works best on our various devices. Does the A&K work wirelessly? Then it might show up that way.

It does show up in Audio Devices as “AK380 USB DAC” and essentially looks like it’s being treated like a pair of speakers.

When I plug it in, the Android File Transfer program opens and see’s it, and I’m able to drag files onto it, create folders, delete content but it does not show up in devices or anywhere else.

Jriver i try add device, but no valid paths available. Redetect all devices turns up nothing.

Bluetooth connects but still does not show up in devices

Have you tried a hardwired connection or only bluetooth?

Have you gone into JRiver then to Playback Options then to Audio Devices

Does it show up in that drop down under that with a hard wired connection?

Is there any way to turn off the Android software and just allow Jriver and Mac control it?

Both hardwired and bluetooth. No difference.

In options, tried autodetect as well as manually adding (no path found).

Uninstalled android transfer, no change.

Went to Wiseguys (3rd part computer specialists), they couldnt figure it out either.

I outputted the library in jriver to the SD card in a cardreader and that wasnt able to be read. Kept getting card read errors. Reformatted it, retransferred, same issue.

So far, only way to get anything into ak380 from a mac is android transfer...but still no way to organize, sync artwork/lyrics, etc
