Local Talent

My wife and I have gone to the local college over the past couple months to listen to some live jazz. They have a both a large and small ensemble. It is usually free but the kids leave a tip jar to which I happily leave a silent donation.

While living only 2 hours from D.C. one would think you could get all the entertainment one wanted. It is a PIA to go up there and back in one night. So that's why we looked for some local talent.

Anyway, there are two girls, a sax and upright bass player who really caught our attention. They play their instruments with such passion it is captivating. So Laura and I went out to dinner at a small restaurant. Who do we see but these two young women with a drummer and pianist playing. What a wonderful evening we had listening to these young people make music! I'm certain the two Grand Marnier 150's may have contibuted to it but who cares! These kids were such an enjoyment to watch and experience.

As much as I enjoy listening to my toys at home, to me there is no comparison between "Is it live or Memorex"? I'll take the college kids any day of the week!

Ehhh, some of those nights I can't even remember, except for good booze, good women, and good music.

It's amazing how much better things get after a couple of Cent Cenquent's...

The girls all look prettier at closing time. (Tom T. Hall)
