2x f113v2 vs 1x Gotham
After moving my gear into my new house and listening room I realized my little ole f112 just can't keep up. Even my wife said we need more bass in the room, so that's the nod to spend more stereo money. I'm very loyal to JL so I'm not thinking of any other sub brands. I've had their subs in my cars, homes, boats.. and never been disappointed.
I went looking at JL's website and realized how much more the Gotham is than anything else in their catalog. Does anyone know what the difference is between running 2 f113's vs the Gotham? I could buy, at MSRP, 2 f113 subs for 9k. But the Gotham is 15k. That just seems a bit nuts considering there's 3000 watts powering a single F113 and "only" 4500 on the Gotham. I would think there would be far more SPL generated from the 2 f113's. Thoughts? I've also thought about picking up a couple of 212's as well and moving the current one to my living room upstairs. |
Nothing like a Gotham, talk to Ivan he will help you out I am sure.

Kyle... I have tons of experience with F113's & Gotham's. I'll chime in shortly when I'm on my computer, or we can talk on the phone.

Gotham's cost dramatically more due to their rounded cabinet. Nearly 2 weeks goes into each ones cabinet construction, painting and finishing.
The F212 represents the best value when looking for a powerful dual driver sub. I personally own F112's, F113's, F212's and Gothams. |
Ivan beat me to it...
That cabinet is nuts. Start with one Gotham. Get a second when ready. That way you aren't ditching 2x113v2s when you realize you should have just went with the bigguns and added more later... ;) |
