My dream component ...

If after all these years I'm still listening to LPs, tape and even FM, it seems likely that I won't be giving up CDs anytime soon either. (Or SACDs, or DVDs.) Am I alone in that?

What I'd like to buy is a high end, no-compromise disc spinner that would play all 5-inch digital disc media. It would have only digital outputs. It would not include a DAC, streamer, or multiple inputs - it would just be a rock solid spinner that would be serviceable for years.

Doesn't it seems reasonable that someone who offer such a component? Is there one I've overlooked?

Esoteric maybe?

So you want a high end quality CD/SACD Transport.

Yes, they are out there; my personal preference is Accuphase. Don’t let high retail prices scare you; I made many dreams happen! :ok:

There are some great top-flight SACD/CD transports from dCS, Metronome, CH Precision, Accuphase, Esoteric, and I'm sure others. However I'm not aware of any top level universal transports that will also play video discs. Many of the above, like the dCS, may be at their best when paired with their same-brand DAC.

It has to do it all to satisfy my dream: CD, SACD, DVD, Blu-Ray ...

Hmmmm, that does seem to do it all, even though I don't need the streaming ability.

So Ivan, is it true you're a dealer????

That's an amazing universal transport. I've heard that and the matching JMF DAC, pre and amps twice...

Truly hard to beat and stands right up there with other reference playback units, Esoteric Grandioso and yes, Wadax.

The JMF and Wadax Atlantis and the new Atlantis/X are 2 of the very few reference grade universal players left. Esoteric stopped making them after the P-03U.

I am guessing that DCS APEX will also be counted very soon in the above list. (Don't know if that is to be a full universal player)

That would be a huge decline in performance, ie: Pioneer Elite.
