Am having some engraving done on a Remington Hepburn #3 rifle I'm restoring. The engraver is Otto Carter. This is a stunning Cabot 1911 he has done. My Hepburn is next after he finishes another Cabot 1911. Beautiful work.

I'm not usually a fan of full coverage engraving, but that is beautifully done!

Same for me. Prefer understated elegance, if you will. However, Otto has done a masterful job on this and I can only hope I am getting some smaller portion of his Art Deco motif on my Hepburn receiver.
For those that may not be aware, there are a several guilds of craftspersons in the USA. One of them is the gun engravers guild, of which only 50 are "master engraver" at any one time, if I recall correctly. Otto Carter is one of them. Believe they are selected and voted in by their peers. |
Here's a .44 Mag that he did.

Stunning work. Think Otto's is as good as I've seen. I requested that he puts some leaves with fruit (no gold - wears too quickly in a gun that is used) in the center of the receiver he is doing for me. He sent along this pic of the Cabot 1911 he is finishing at the moment.

Here's my Hepburn receiver after Otto's work, but prior to case-color finishing. Should have it back in a few weeks.

Outstanding. I'd be terrified to use/carry such a beautiful weapon.
