I asked for info also but I think it is over 2k...... The orange VT-1000 tests all the tubes I have and around $500

Not sure of the quality......

I still think the MaxiMatcher is the way to go; albeit with 2 units.

They work like a champ, and very easy learning curve.

Looks like $500, or $1600 (for the 2-units) or $2700 or whatever you can find in the way of a used tube-tester.

Of course, there is the alternative of sending tubes to a test-for-fee service, which is likely the most cost effective route. For those of us who are tube-rollers, this works well as we always have a set or two (or 5 or 6) of spares tubes to roll in when we think one may have gone bad. When I recently sold my SLI-80 I included 54 tubes.
Think that may be one of the primary reasons I just sold my VK-300xSE............. it only uses two (2) tubes and there are only 2 or 3 tube varieties to roll (boring ;)).

Found a Superior Instruments Model 85 for $60, shipped, with original manual. It is pretty much a go/no-go tester. But that is all that I require. Just want to know if a tube is good/bad. This one was checked out by a 'known-good' tube seller, so it should be working well. Looking at used tube testers on that auction website shows them readily available for a wide range of prices.

A good find, it'll save you a lot in the long run.
I only paid $80 for my Avo tube tester. I've not yet come across a tube it can't test. Just goes to show its well worth searching out the used/vintage markets, no need to commit to mega dollar new items either.

AA Members..........

The Maxi-Preamp II will be in stock on 5/25/2016 again! So I ordered both the Maxi-MatcherII and Maxi-PreampII. They contacted me today about it if anyone is interested.......

Josh.......Congratulations on your purchase of the Maxi-Matcher 2 and Maxi-Preamp 2 tube testers. I have both and like the way they perform. Both are simple to use, well built, and deliver reliable and repeatable results. If you use tubes, being able to accurately test them is essential.

Thanks Dan! I will be using these testers for my MC275 amp....... May be overkill but I really like the way it sounds!
