New Cary digital - DMC-600SE & DAC-200ts
Cary Audio has a few new pieces of digital gear that look like very interesting designs. The DMC-600 CD/DAC in standard and SE versions, as well as the DAC-200ts. They're using multiple new AKM DACs in parallel configuration, handle all digital formats up to quad-DSD, and have selectable tube or solid state output. Has anyone had the chance to hear any of these yet, or seen any early user or dealer reports on them? Thanks in advance!

A friend of mine just ordered the 200ts and I'll be curious to see what he thinks of the sound. He had purchased a Marantz NA-11S1 and didn't like the sound and sent it back. If I decide that DSD is worth the expense, the Cary is on my short list.

Hi Jack, I just joined the forum. I am the guy that bought the Cary 200ts. I received it today. I will post my thoughts after I have decided if I am going to keep it. It needs some break in time. So far the SS is better than the tube. Much more body and weight to the midrange while the tube output has a more airy midrange. The frequency response appears to be fairly flat unlike the Marantz which has too much bass, a recessed midrange and forward lower treble along with an in your face sound.
I am running a BAT VK-51se preamp, Pass Labs X250 amp and Magnepan 1.6 speakers with a sub crossed over at 45Hz. Larry |

The DAC-200 looks very interesting. Would love to compare it to my PS Audio DS.
