Grandioso K1 owners – optimal Power Cable choice

Dear Grandioso K1 SACD owners please can you please advise what is your optimal AC Power Cable choice for your K1?

Cheers,

Chris

For several generations of Esoteric I have found that Elrod Masters Series Statement Gold and his mid-line Statement Gold really open up all my Esoteric components of all types over the years. Remarkable jump from first plug-in...even better after break-in

Many thanks Mark.

Just wondering if you tried other cables on your Esoteric source equipment over the years –*or just different Elrod models?

Cheers,

Chris

These are what I've owned; the list of what I've tested is much longer and includes names like Nordost, MIT, Transparent and others that were not
ever purchased for various reasons.

I'm sure I'm missing a few names....

Power Cords:

Many Monster cable versions in the late 90s/early 2000s
Audioquest various models a long time ago
Analysis Plus Power Cables
Shunyata Anaconda and Anaconda VX (with excellent results), goes back a while
Tara Labs The One Power Cables
Pangea AC14 and AC9
Isotek Elite and Optimum
Have demo'ed many others

Have also demo'ed Shunyata latest top of the line; they are exceptional.

Digital (AES/EBU, S/PDIF, Clock (both 75-ohm S/PDIF and 50-ohm):

Audioquest Raven
Audioquest Eagle Eye
Audioquest WEL Signature Gen1 AES/EBU
Harmonic Technology (model?)
Analysis Plus Digital Oval2
Tara Labs 0.5 with HFX Ground Stations
VH Audio Custom-built Digital AES/EBU
Kubala Sosna ELATION AES/EBU
Kubala Sosna Emotion Clock cables (both 75 and 50-ohm)
Wireworld Platinum Eclipse v7 75-ohm
Esoteric-Mexcel 8N-A2000 50-ohm
Have demo'ed many others
Now use Shunyata Research SIGMA CLOCK50s, the best yet!
Now use Shunyata Research SIGMA AES/EBU, the best yet!

XLRs:

Alot of Monster and other bargain brands a long time ago
Audioqest Cheetah (3 pair)
Audioquest Sky (7 pair)
Audioquest WEL Signature Gen1 XLR
Tara Labs 0.8 with HFX ground stations
Tara Labs 0.5 with HFX ground stations
Kubala Sosna Emotion and Elation XLRs
many others tested along the way
Now have (besides Elrod XLRs) also in system:
Shunyata Research SIGMA XLR, outstanding!
Shunyata Research Anaconda Zitron 6m XLR with KPIP (a rarity); this cable is outstanding!

I'm sure I'm forgetting some names,...it's been a long journey.

Thanks Mark that is very helpful.

I have been using Esoteric sources for over 20 years and myself have used a range of power cables over the years but nowhere near as many as you have.

The latest top of the line Shunyata you mean the Sigma NR and Alpha?
How do they compare to your Elrod Master Series Statement Gold you have on your source gear?

By the way, have you ever tried Elrod Diamond with Furutech NCF connectors?
Or Goebel Lacorde Statement power cables?

Cheers

Chris

I've not tried a Elrod Diamond Series or Master Series Diamond with FI50NCF or Bocchino connectors (he makes both) but i have heard them at David's house. I don't bring them into this system as I could not ever afford them at this point in life. I've heard them first-hand as i mentioned, they are unbelievable. I know 3 guys who utilize them throughout their system as well as using Diamond Speaker cables and interconnects; they swear they will never move.

I had the good fortune of a Shunyata SIGMA NR power cable on loan for an extended period. I utilize it on A02 amp, C02 preamp, P02 transport, D02 DAC, Cybershaft clock and my TRITON v3 power conditioner (with Shunyata adapter) for the 15amp components as it was a 20amp cord).

Comparing Shunyata SIGMA NR to Elrod Statement Gold is like comparing excellent no holds-barred to excellent no holds-barred. In short, won't do that on any forum. They are both top of the audio heap IMHO after years of trying many (not all clearly) great cables and yield excellent sonic results.

If I needed power cords in the system and had the money to move on them, I'd be utilizing SIGMA NR beyond a doubt! BTW...I still have a SIGMA NR level cord in the system,...the bespoke umbilical between my TYPHON QR and TRITON v3. Excellent!

I've note tried Goebel, Sablon or a few other high-end contenders to answer your other question.

Cheers, thanks for letting me know.
Did you trial many other power cables before settling on the Sigma NR?

Not really, just lower level Shunyata.
