Accuphase preamps.

Hello. Im considering upgrading my excellent C2120 preamp in higher range from Accuphase.

C2450 is on its way, but im aiming higher... i think...

C2850.
C3850.

I have never addition C3850, but my dealer went from C2120 to C3850, and could not say anything else, than the C3850 seemed more forward in the sound?! But its was almost new, and needed some burn-in.

C2850, now im entering a Fully Balanced preamp. But can anyone tell me how they perceived the sound?

Same on C3850, that seems so AWSOME!!! :P.

Not sure the C2850 is fully balanced, the C3850 is.

C-3850, C-2850 and the announced C-2450 all have 4th generation AAVA.
Only C-3850 is fully balanced.
C-3850 is not more forward in sound. It's just more natural and relaxed than even its predecessor C-3800.
As mentioned elsewhere in this forum, there is a test report of the C-3850 in German available on accuphase.de, which well describes its sonic properties.
Only C-2850 and C-2450 allow adding of phono module AD-2850.
IMHO there were always clearly audible differencies between the preamps climbing up the ladder (provided the rest of the system would not mask them).

Like to read that :).

I think i save for the C3850... and when the money is in, i see what i goes for... I think my M6200 and Tannoy deserve the best of the best..

I seem to enjoy my 3850 and A-70. I have never auditioned anything else. I spent 5 minutes listening to my setup when I first arrived to Japan and knew I would buy. Matter of fact, I knew I would buy prior to ever listening just based on reputation. Two years now and not even a regret. Cannot go wrong with any Accuphase products.

A fully balanced preamp or power amp consists of two identical amplifier units (and for the preamp also volume control units) per channel.
Normally the units are floating as well, i.e. independent of the ground potential.

In a top of the line Accuphase system, the fully balanced output of the source (DA / Phono pre) is connected via XLR to the fully balanced C-3850 and then via XLR to the fully balanced monoblocks
(A-200, A-250, M-6200). At the output of the power amps the phase of one complete amplifier chain per channel (preamp, connections and power amp) is turned 180°.

This eliminates all potentially induced noise and also the common residual noise and distortion of the amplifier and volume control units themselves leading to a cleaner music signal.

The Accuphase flagship is totally silent. I mean zero noise from the speakers and the chassis. Not even a sound when I put my ear right at the drivers. There is also zero transformer hum. The only way I could tell they were on was by the heat and lights.
