PS Audio P10 in living room system

Week before last member Cincy2 listed his PS Audio P10 AC regenerator for sale in the Marketplace and I bought it. At the same time my PS Audio Power Plant Premier in the living room system was purchased by member Vintage Pete. I now have my new to me P10 installed in my living room rack providing clean AC to my sound system. Setup was a breeze using the touch screen. This 73 lb. component was quite a handful to get unpacked and in the rack, but once in place it looks great. I am extremely pleased with the P10 performance, features, and ease of use.

I am fortunate to have a dedicated utility transformer on my property that feeds power to my home with no one else sharing it. My THD on the incoming AC is relatively low, and I suspect a portion of that THD comes from the connected household equipment, i.e air conditioning, refrigeration, computers, televisions, etc. The P10 is powered with a 20 amp dedicated circuit and powers all equipment in the rack except the power amplifier. The MC452 is powered from its own 20 amp dedicated circuit through a Furutech Flux 50 inline power filter. I am certain their is sufficient reserve power from the P10 to support the MC452 but I prefer it being fed in this manner. The P10 displays my incoming power at 124.5 volts with THD of 1.9%. The output is 120.6 volts with THD of 0.1%. The voltage regulation and THD reduction is essential to the the system operation which is sounding better than ever. The PS Audio P10 is a nice upgrade. I am very pleased I made this purchase.

Looks great Dan! Congratulations on your new purchase. I have the PPP and I am considering upgrading somewhere in the PS Audio line.

Well bought Dan!

Thank you, gentlemen. I feel fortunate that the P10 came my way. I hadn't expected it, but Eric presented a bargain I could not refuse.

I am also happy that the P10 is convection cooled, no fans. Although the PPP fans rarely came on, when they did I could hear them. The P10 is dead silent. I like that.

Dan,

Congrats on the purchase. I’m still a little jealous I procrastinated, but if you snooze you lose I guess.

Do you notice a difference in sound? This product has always intrigued me. I have good power, but I really don’t know the harmonics or THD on my power. I work for a company that makes that test gear and have wanted to borrow some equipment, but just haven’t yet. I’d like to quantify or know just how good or bad my power really is.

Beautiful system Dan.

Mike.......I know what you mean about procrastination. I have done the same more than once only to watch someone else quickly purchase something I had been thinking about buying, leaving me frustrated I did not commit to the purchase when I should have. No turning back the hands of time. C'est la vie.

Yes I do notice a difference in sound. Remember, I have been using Power Plant Premier AC regeneration for years in three different systems. I am familiar with how a reduction in harmonic distortion on the incoming AC power line can impact an audio system's performance. What I have discovered with the P10 is it lowers THD more than the PPP I had been using. Even with relatively clean utility power from my dedicated utility transformer, there is an improvement in the depth at which micro sounds appear that are somewhat masked or completely inaudible without AC regeneration in place. I have been convinced for years that the quality of the incoming AC feeding audio equipment impacts the reproduced sound. Everything audio components do begins with the power from the wall. The cleaner it is the better my musical enjoyment.

Eric.......Thank you for the compliment. The living room sound system has been a work in progress for at least ten years. I can't say for sure, but I think I have it right where I want it. Time will tell. .
