New to Headphones

I've never owned headphones. I am looking at the Hifiman HE400i, in part because of the reduced price.

I have two systems. A smaller system with a Pioneer Elite VSX-80TXV receiver/amplifier. The larger system has an Anthem AVM 60 processor, Oppo 205 player, and Anthem MCA amps. What do I do to make the headphones work (I told you I was new to headphones)? Do I need anything in addition to the headphones?

Also, I need an appropriate headphone extension cord that is 12 to 15 feet long.

One last point, I wear hearing aids because my hearing has deteriorated in the higher frequencies because of age and radiation treatments I endured many years ago. Therefore the best and highest quality headphones are largely not beneficial. Good quality at an affordable price is about all I can utilize.

Thanks for helping.

Welcome to AAf.

The HE400i looks to be a good, cost-effective choice to get you started. Only you can decide how they sound.

Your Pioneer receiver has a headphone jack on the front and the HE400i should plug directly into same and you'll be fine. Same is true with your Oppo 205.

Ivan can help you out with a good, inexpensive WW Nano or other headphone extension cable.

I have a HE400i and it’s a great headphone for the price. I paid 300$Can.
I use it with my iPad and it sound very fine.
I think you will like it.

Ivan runs the AA forum and is a dealer for Wireworld. He can advise you on any purchasing.

Welcome to AA. I travel extensively for my employment and have been using headphones for many years. I have probably 60+ pair and at least 30 amps. I would be happy to talk to you anytime. The addition of an amp would make a huge difference.

Ivan,

Can you make a 15' Wireworld Nano Eclipse (or equivalant) headphone cable for my Hifiman HE400i? I couldn't find your direct contact information so l am contacting you here. I hope I didn't break any rules.
