Upgrade Thorens 125?

Hi I recently purchased a used c2300 McIntosh amp to use with my Thorens 125 which currently has a Linn tonearm and Grado cartridge. I also have a Kenwood 550 with SME tonearm. I'm curious what combo of tonearm and cartridges would give the best combo.

1. Should I send away SME 3009 improved version arm from my old turntable to smetonearms for repair or stick with the Linn and Grado option? Note in past records with skip often with my SME, but perhaps it was not setup correctly.
2.If I did repair the tonearm which cartridge would you use? Some of my records are 90s house music and not in the best condition.

Talk to Mr. SMEtonearms (forgotten his name). He is very knowledgeable on most all vintage TT/TA gear.
