This could find it’s way into my new VPI HW-40.

Canonicus 03-13-2019 09:52 AM

Ivan, which system were you planning to add these to?

Dave... I would like to add it to my Accuphase rig in Cape Cod, although real estate is at a premium. ;)

docmd2010 03-14-2019 08:25 PM

Ivan,

What tonearm you gonna use? One of the VPI ones? You gonna install this cart on your own?

If I go for it; I’ll probably get the best Tri-Planar U12 Arm.

I always have a professional set up all my cartridges. He does this daily, and I never have to second guess myself. :)

Why not the Accuphase AC-6 - Same manufacturer behind the scenes ;)

The AC-6 retails for $5K in the USA. Comparing it to the Opus 1 is apples & oranges.

That's putting it mildly.

The Opus-1 is current state of the art, maybe tied for the top sonic spot with the van den Hul Master Signature. And its specs will tell you it's in the Goldilocks range for compatibility. Very nice choice.

Hmmm....I could do a DOE in setting up that puppy! That is a badass arm, Ivan!

FreddieFerric 03-19-2019 08:11 PM

Have you been able to track one down yet?

There is a few months wait right now; I’ll need to weigh the pros and cons.

timztunz 03-20-2019 07:01 AM

I just added an Opus-1 and Kuzma 4-Point 14" and am absolutely astonished! If I had had this combination all along I would likely have never gotten into tape! I'm also in the process of getting the necessary hardware to mount the Kuzma on the right hand side.

^^ WOW... That's quite an impressive analog setup! ^^ Enjoy it in the best of health! :tresbon:

I pulled the trigger yesterday on the Opus 1 cartridge.

TT, Tonearm and System TBD. :o

Masterlu 03-23-2019 02:37 PM

Maybe time for a Transrotor. :scratch2:

So, Arturo Manzano bending your ear?

Talk with Alvin Lloyd about the Grand Prix Audio Monaco 2.0

https://www.audioaficionado.org/pict...pictureid=4287

I haven't found a more speed stable and speed accurate 'table than the Monaco 2. Couple it with your TriPlanar and you'll have an all-American analog source that will be hard to beat for less than $100k.

Alvin and I have spoken before; the Grand Prix Monaco 2.0 just doesn’t do it for me.

Okay. Do you know what you want that it doesn't have? Granted it doesn't have the bling factor.

It needs to be Silver, and not IMO look like a round Sputnik. In addition, being in business for 20 years I haven’t received a single call of interest on Grand Prix Audio.

Robert_Anderson 03-24-2019 06:45 AM

I think this would be perfect for the Clearaudio.

I would love one...

Masterlu 03-24-2019 07:59 PM

Ah, you gotta love the Analog rabbit hole.

Today, I also ordered an Airtight PC-1 Coda cartridge.

https://scontent-atl3-1.cdninstagram...ninstagram.com

I’ll probably install this in my VPI HW-40 table.

MCenthusiast 04-04-2019 09:34 AM

How about a high end idler drive or direct drive with the tonearms of your choice? The Artisan Fidelity NGS is available in silver and weighs in at an imposing 250 pounds of billet goodness.

Ivan, I thought you ordered the Opus-1? Or did you order the Opus-1 AND the Coda?

Hahaha, you’re a trip Ivan! I love it! I’m anxious for your impressions. I’ve heard that the PC-1 will get you 80%-85% of the way to the Opus-1. I cant say, as I’ve never heard the PC-1. But I didn’t want to leave anything in the bag so just sent for the Opus. Let us know. Inquiring minds and all that!

I've been eyeing up the Air Tight line for myself. Any updates for us? Have you had a chance to compare the Opus-1 to the PC-1 Coda, please?

Britt... being a dealer for Airtight has it’s advantages. If you can afford the Opus-1 definitely go for it. It is roughly 50% more at retail than the PC-1 Coda, but is so well worth it. My decision was made rather quickly, and I was able to sell the PC-1 effortlessly.

The Opus-1 is said to be difficult to get, but no problem for this dealer. In addition, if you go this route no one can save you more money than me. :o

Where can I find a listing of the carts you carry? Thanks.
