Looking for "Big Power" Integ. Amp. suggestions....

One of my upcoming projects as I prepare for a move is to consolidate from seperates hopefully to an integrated amplifier. The challenge is that I am running some rather inefficient panels that run around 80 db and generally thrive on power.

Thus I am looking for suggestions for an integrated amplifier with sufficient power to run my rather inefficient panels. I would like to keep the budget around $ 3k for this project as it will be in a secondary system.

Many thanks for any suggestions in advance.

New or also consider used? Which panel speakers do you want to drive? Thx

New or Used is fine with me. Panels I am running currently are ET8b's (Eminent Technology)

Cheers.

A McIntosh MA7000 will come in above your budgeted figure, but maybe the little bit older MA6900.

I am completely happy with my McIntosh integrated amp and it has enough power to light New York City.

Some ideas for you to consider/research:

New:
NAD C375BEE
Cambridge Audio 840A
T&A Power Plant
Musical Fidelity M6i

Used:
Plinius 9200
Karan KAI-180
Simaudio i7
Wyred 4 Sound STI-1000
McIntosh MA6900

I chose integrateds with a minimum of 150wpc into 8ohms that doubled down into 4ohms. I hope this is a good list from which to start your explorations further. Good luck.

If you are looking for a powerful integrated, you might find a used Krell FBI. This was a very nice amp. Looks good and has 300wpc (600 into 4 ohms).

If I could find one of those in my price range I think that would work nicely. That is one "big power" integrated. I think FBI is a most appropriate name for it…

Wyred 4 Sound STI-500 or Wyred 4 Sound STI-1000. I ran a STI-500 with a pair of 84db(or less) speakers and there was no lack of dynamics whatsoever.

I have to admit, I have not quite succumbed to Class “D” just yet. Call me an archaic old school caveman but I still like an amp with a power supply you could weld steel with…..
