2 vs 4 wire speaker cable
 

I have decided I want to upgrade my current Audioquest speaker wire, I think it may be my speaker wire causing some harsh sound from my speakers. I listened to a pair of B&W 802d's today with Transparent speaker cable and was able to hear a difference. Of course there speaker wire was about 10 inches thick and more than I'll consider spending. My current speaker wire is bi-wired on one end. 4 inputs on one side and 2 for the amp. IS there really a difference between speaker wires having just 1 black and 1 red end V.S. 2 red and 2 black ends (bi-wire). Would you get the same effect if you used the jumper cables that come with the speakers? to make fake bi-wire. ( to still use all 4 speaker connectors). I noticed they were using the B&W jumpers and only using 2 wire transparent speaker connections.
So, will the result be the same using the bi-wire terminal jumpers as using bi-wire speaker cables? Just wondering because there is a price difference between 2 and 4 ends. I hope this makes sense, p.s. I want to purchase speaker wire from wireworld, any suggestions? without breaking my bank.
2 10 foot runs and 1 8 foot run. Just kinda confused if i should buy bi-wire or use the jumpers. If there is no difference in sound I cant justify the expense. HELP! I'M SPEAKING IN TONGUES :tears:

Ahhhh....To biwire or not to biwire. Lots of debate on this one. I for one have the same option as you do. I use my jumpers.

Ahhh, if only there were a simple and universal answer to your question! It is very system specific and cable specific. Case in point, I started with MIT single run cables, switched to DH Labs biwire cables, and now have Tara Labs single run, which sound the best. Would Tara biwires sound better? I don't know, but I do know I can't afford that kind of experiment! The cable investment would be almost the same cost as my speakers. There should be plenty of guidance here for you from people with the same amps and speakers.

even if you stripped the cable. you would start with one end RED and one BLACK, how do you travel say...10 feet, then make 2 RED connector and 2 BLACK connectors. I guess Im not understanding something, my ill follow your advice klipschpyro, use the jumpers. unless there is some scientific proof that there is a difference and something my ears can hear and not a mechanical instrument. Guess I thought it was just me.

I've used both, I tend to prefer the bi-wire simply because more copper/silver get to the speaker rather than utilizing a tiny little jumper.

I typically notice better bass response.

Maybe there for bi-amping instead of bi-wiring.

I currently have Audioquest Rockefellers. As I mentioned I think they may be causing a brighter sound with my speakers. If i were to purchase Wireworld, what is a good line to start with. Without spending a $1,000.00 Im trying to replace my stock power cables too.

Silver Eclipse or within that line for power and IC's. Speaker... get something copper if you want to avoid silver-bright.

Will do Vesuvius, Already upgraded to XLR, Next is power cords and speaker cable.

I was on the fence about this too. The manuals for my speakers (klipshc rf-7) say that bi-wires are preferred and will improve the sound of the speaker. So I tried them and they did sound better. I have a hard time describing the improvement, but I would say the highs and lows are more distinct, project more detail. I'm definitely listening to a lot more music now since the upgrade.
