Wireworld vs Cardas

Hello.

Im about to go for a interconnect change in my system.

Last week i invested in:
2x Wireworld Electra 7 Silver (DAC and PRE)
2x Wireworld Electra 7 (Power amps)
WireWorld Eclipse 7 (Speaker cable).

I already got Cardas Golden Reference XLR interconnects between DAC-PRE-POWER. But im very curious about this:
Wireworld Eclipse Gold (XLR, DAC-PRE)
Wireworld Eclipse Silver (PRE-POWER)

Have any one went from Cardas to Wireworld? And can give me a good reason to do that? or is it a bit waste? Know that Cardas is very highend cables.....

Cardas, particularly their Golden Reference line are known for having a bit of a warm and tonally rich balance. Wireworld cables tend to be more neutral in their presentation. Both are excellent and preferences will generally come down to system matching and individual listening priorities.

Nice, i have the same impression of the Cardas cable.... So it should not be any doubt... I think i drop the WW interconnect plans...

Thanx for sharing :).

+1 I would add that as you move up the Cardas line (i.e. Clear & Clear Beyond), the cables become more neutral and transparent.

Early this year or late, last year, I purchased a pair of Cardas Golden Cross XLR cables because I had read so much about its alleged "warmth." I was trying to tame a bright source, at the time, which I've since dispensed with.

To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. Compared to cables of today, it sounds like something from Radio Shack. It wasn't warm at all.
Golden Reference is supposed to be more neutral than the Golden Cross so I don't know what that might sound like. I think reviews I've read have said it's less warm than the Golden Cross.

My system has crossed paths on and off with Wireworld for years, and the Silver Eclipse is an excellent, musical cable, that I wouldn't consider bright at all. The Gold Eclipse sounds thinner by comparison, in my opinion. It provides more resolution, but it's not a full step better in a system that is looking for warmth. Silver Eclipse is a great value. I would think it would outperform the Cardas Golden Reference and give you more bass/mid-bass for warmth.

I am playing around a bit with Cardas Golden Cross, Cardas Clear and WW Platinum Eclipse 6, all XLR interconnects. All of them are good cables, but for me the winner is the Cardas clear.

My Ayre DX-5 works best with the Cardas Clear. (WW is not giving great results with the DX-5), The WW has ended up connecting my Wadia 381i to my Accuphase E-600 Amp.

Strangly enough the performance gap between Cardas Clear and WW Platinum Eclipse is much less when connected to the Wadia then when connected to the Ayre.

If possible try the cables before you buy, it really depends on the system you have, which cable works best.

You didn't try the WW Platinum Eclipse 7 ? Can not imagine you are not enthusiastic about that one...

The difference between series 6 & 7 is profound.

At the time I ordered the 7, but got sent the 6, anyway I do feel that Cardas works very well with Ayre gear.

Got my first WW Silver Eclipse 7 in the system now. from pre - power (DAC-pre is comming tomorro).

The difference from Golden Reference is magnificent. Much of the "romance" in the Golden ref is "gone", but soundstage is much sharper now. Bit less punch in the midbass? but more define ?! The stage seems wider with the new WW also.
Clapping on live records may sound more "metallic" with the WW versus the Cardas cable... but, its just been used for 4 hours :).

Both cables are great. Can't wait for tomorrow, to change out my Cardas Golden Cross (DAC-PRE) with another WW Silver eclipse 7 :).

I Think i keep all of them. They are both great performers. But right now, i like the new "Wireworld" sound in my stereo best...
