Does the 151 have preamp function like the 111?

It is an optional item for 151

Indeed.

The 151 got a fantastic review in the March edition of 'Stereo'.
They write: "It gets very very close to the 111".
With at least 2 Tb x 2, and superb DACs, it seems like an attractive offering.

Thanks for the info. I just finished reading the review.

I will get a 151 in an hour to test over the weekend. A detailed report will follow Sunday.

Regards,
Ecki

OK, here we go with part 1 ...

I already have a digital music player (Aurender S10) connected through an "Absolute Creations TIM Reference" digital cable to the Burmester 089. After all the praise for the substantially more expensive Burmester 151 (and my love for Burmester equipment), I fully expected to fall in love with the 151.

The 151 was unpacked and connected with balanced "Audioquest The Sky" wires to the 088 and with an ethernet cable to my network. I downloaded the Burmester application from the App Store and fired it up. No configuration was necessary. Seconds later I saw the 151 and connected with a simple click.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

As a couple of CDs were already on the device just seconds later Roger Waters was playing. It sounded very nice, but not "different". I loaded some more music onto the 151 (music that was on my Aurender S10, too) and compared the Aurender S10 playing through the 089 DAC with the 151 using his own DAC. Did I say "compare"? Actually I tried to compare but I was unable to hear a difference.:confused-12::confused-12::confused-12:

This evening I will try the 151 through the 089's DAC.

Thank you for your impressions so far!
Is this a new device?
If it is, you should let it some time to break in.
By then, it is supposed to easily rise above the 089...
