One of my favorite vacations was to Vienna it is an audiophiles paradise.

The Opera House , the Vienna boys choir, amazing stuff ! We took a 2 day side trip to Salzburg ! We did the Mozart tour and the Sound of Music tour .
Mirabella Palace is quite the place.

I did manage to go to Hohensalzburg castle and hear Eine Kliene Nactmusik played on period instruments :tresbon:

I was in Vienna last year and was lucky enough to snag a ticket to hear Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Anglese Philharmonic at the Musikverein

+1 Doug... Loved everything you did too. I wonder if you had the same prancy Sound of Music tour guide with the umbrella as we did. Gosh he was certainly an energetic & gay doh reh me character. I wish we could have stopped off at the Red Bull factory too... :laughin:

Steve,
We had a woman as a guide
I really enjoyed watching the Lipizon Stallions at the Spanish Riding School as well !
Our host at the SRS was sure to tell us about a great US general who saved the horses from the USSR. Gearge S. Patton

Very interesting. We did not venture there, but we will go again someday. The snow season had just started & a trip to the Eagles Nest was also out of the question.

Doug Lax 04-16-2012 05:58 PM

We went to the Eagles nest and it was snowing at the end of may. We also went to Dachau.
It was very sad but I think it helped me to keep in perspective what evil is and what we need to do to stop it and keep it stopped
