Congrats, Buddy! Those look quite large relative to the other elements around. It is nice and promising that these fit. Did it take a special effort to solder them in place? I see you anchored the one on the right side with a dented belt.

I'll stick to the amp's Caps upgrade for now, but since you have already planted that seed, I'm sure I'll follow suit, eventually :sigh:

Please let us know how the end sound improves. The Copper Foil and Beeswax combination from Jupiter is supposed to be one of the best.

Thanks! I used a tie wrap and adhesive nylon base on one of the caps as it had longer leads. Yes, they are large but were very easy to install. I won't comment on them until they get some hours. I did not want to do the preamp until I was sure the caps in the amp settled in fully.

Peter, I did some more rolling today and found with a different rectifier and driver the Bendix 5992 sound less sterile. Today I rotated in a RCA 5U4G ribbed plate rectifier and a Raytheon VT-231 and the 5992 power tubes opened up with a much better balance and better dynamics.

That's good to hear. I believe I have an RCA 5U4G - not sure about the ribbed plate variant. I'll give them a try together. My driver is in the 6DJ8/6922 family though.

Won't be till next weekend though as I'm down in sunny Arizona visiting family for a few days.

I still have a bunch of 5U4G's. National Union and the Tung Sol top getter are worth keeping on your radar. :thumbsup:

Simon, I chose these because they would fit and all the reviews are very positive. The 1.5uf were $116 each from Sonic Craft. Not cheap but were worth it. Most of the Inspire amplifiers use .022uf coupling caps and Jupiter HT copper foil in that value are $22 and change each. IMHO, they would be a big upgrade in any of these amps. Once your copper Audyns settle in try them and I think you will be smiling.

Well, Feeling my preamp had somehow lost some of its original magic of layering, imaging and separation I replaced the original capacitors to the LP-2. And it was back to its old self with the wow factor. The Audyn copper max have about 50 hours on them at this point. They will get more time to burn in soon, I just wanted to make sure that my ears weren't lying to me. So Tiawanese $1 caps have a little more magic in them at this point in my preamp. The audyn are doing alot very well it just seems that the stereo image just isn't as crystal clear and rock solid the stock setup. Interesting hobby this.... I will be interested to hear how those Jupitor caps settle in. Maybe I'll try those power amp caps next.... Less $ outlay.
On a separate note, has anyone attempted running El84 power tubes with the use of adaptors? I have just received some NOS Phillips holland D-getter EL84s that I ordered for the Ifi stereo 50 amplifier I have just recently sold as it wasnt cutting the mustard after my experience with my Inspire setup.

Just noticed some Visseaux 6K6 GT tubes available on an auction site. Anyone know if these are an option for us? I personally love the character of the 6V6 Popes. So, maximizing power is not important to my tastes.

I have some. I like the 6K6 in general. The old RCA's I find preferable to the Visseaux' though. I also have a pair of Visseaux 6V6G's (older coke bottle) that don't match up to their later GT's. I think the Visseaux 6V6GT's are their special one's and having the Visseaux name doesn't necessarily make for a better tube in other variants. YMMV obviously.
