Sonos Connect W4S died

I've had this unit for at least 5 years and it's been terrific. I bought it directly from W4S. I also have two other stock Sonos Connects in other parts of the house that are working fine.

Recently the W4S version simply stopped working. No lights on the unit, and it can't be found by the Sonos apps/software. It's just a paperweight now it seems.

There is no external fuse and I haven't opened it up to poke around inside to look for trouble. Any tips before I do that?

Thanks,

JR

I have no tips but mine is faulty as well after about 3 years. Caused an audible hum through the system when plugged in, even when not connected to any other piece. Great unit but basically a paper weight now

JR.......It is quite possible the switch mode power supply has failed.

Hey JR... I checked with one of our techs. He said it does sound like the internal switching power supply. He said you can send it in and we can look at it. Many times he has been able to fix them, but not always. There is no guarantee of this of course.

He said your mod could also be transferred to a new Sonos if you are so inclined.

EJ also told me that we have seen a cap dry out on the power supply and we have been able to fix it, if this is the case.

If you would like us to take a look at it please fill out a service request on our website and then send it on in.

Thanks. I've just filled out a service request.

This is good to hear! Hopefully my modded Sonos Connect will not experience similar problems but it is comforting to know that the modification could be transferred to a new Sonos Connect.

+1
Wow am I impressed with W4S support. Really top shelf. For a company to support the base product their mod goes into is a step above and beyond.
Bravo!

Kudos to W4S

Thank you all!

And JR, I believe that I saw Ashlynn processed and sent you a RMA this morning for your unit to be sent to us so that the techs can look at it.
