BAT VK-42SE & BAT VK-250SE Pre-Power combo purchase advice
Hi everyone,
So I've been building my small standmount (focal/dynaudio) setup and found a good deal for a prepower combo from BAT. I am not familiar with their sound. The guy had them for around 5 years and he wants to sell them both for $3500. - Do you think that it is a good price? - What is your opinion of BAT VK-42SE & BAT VK-250SE sound signature? I ordered Chord Dave dac/preamp which is to be delivered in the coming weeks. - Should I buy the VK 250SE alone and connect it directly to Dave? or is an actual Preamp like VK 42SE is required? Regards, |
I can’t tell you about those choices, but my BAT preamp/amp pairing is a tick or two to the warm side of neutral. I am a strong believer in preamps.

I think that is a most excellent deal on some terrific gear. Each piece would normally be in the $2500+ range on the used market. The BAT sound is among the best to my ears. Buy them both and try both ways. You will be able to sell the preamp for more than half of what you paid for both pieces should you decide you don't need it.

BAT VK-50SE vs. Bat VK-42SE
What can anyone tell me about the pros and cons of each preamp? I have the BAT VK-50SE now.
