Umm, the previous post seems a bit alarmist :)

Not a problem. Bryston does something similar for their triggers.

Yes, the trigger for the Pass amps has positive and negative binding post. So, one end plugs into the upstream component and the Pass end connector has a positive and negative.
Is it safer to just get a prefabricated wire? If so, what wire would I need?

I presume that you are talking about 3.5mm cables. Monoprice is a good source.

Not all amplifier manufacturers use a mini-jack.
