My listening room system. Next step is acoustic treatments. TV is just used for the home computer which holds digital copies of all my CDs and runs into the MB50 for a dac. Dedicated 20amp line for power w Furman PST-8. Mcintosh C1100 pre amp, MC152 amp, MB50 streamer, VPI scout turntable w Soundsmith Zepher MIMC cart, Harbeth C7ES3 speakers w Rel T/9i sub.

Considering a dedicated DAC - maybe Holo or Schiit and working on cable upgrades.

So I have been working to upgrade the digital capabilities of my system. Ivan was able to get me a great deal on a new Esoteric K-05xs. All I can say is this thing is amazing. Out of the box I played Genesis ‎– Invisible Touch in SACD format. I heard sounds that I never picked up before. During Tonigh, Tonigh,Tonigh I actually thought there was some form of phone or alarm ringing upstairs, so I went looking for the sound. After leaving my room it was gone. I come to find out when I replayed the song again, that it was in the music. I have listened to this track a number of times and never had that experience. The sound stage and resolution is amazing and it’s not even broken in. I can’t be more pleased w the purchase. Now I have to determine if I keep the MB50 for streaming or use the Mini Mac w the Esoteric.

mtroo 11-21-2018 06:45 PM

It is coming together quite nicely.

vegaracer1 11-22-2018 03:05 AM

I am frequently suprised by previously hidden details in songs, many I have been listening to for decades. This is the Esoteric gift that keeps giving.
CONGRATULATIONS, Now you can enjoy the full magic of your music.

Derek,
Congrats on putting together an excellent system! You've made some fine gear choices that will give you great pleasure for years to come.

Made some upgrades. Just moved in the Pass Labs x260.8. All I can say is WOW. Not even broken in and I’m already loving them.

Wow, that’s some serious firepower!

Mikado463 04-27-2019 11:07 AM

Derek, congrats on the 260.8's, as an owner myself I can say for certainty that you're set for a long time !

Now get those speakers moved out some or gear moved back. It's never good for the soundstage for anything in front of and between your speakers.

Antonmb 04-27-2019 11:17 AM

Congratulations Derek, that’s some serious amplification.

Yea, the room this is in is small, so placement options are limited. The 1 pic is taken from almost the back wall. I will try moving the forward to see what impact it makes.

Nice rig Derek, I like it good stuff yes :)

Charles 05-01-2019 03:37 AM

Derek, beautiful system. I wouldn't be too concerned about moving your speakers if your sound is good. Enjoy in good health.

A few updates. New preamp (Audio Research Ref 6), music server/dac (Aurender A10) and a temp phono preamp (Schiit Mani Phono Preamp) to tide me over till I find what has the best synergy w the system. Needed something since my phono was integrated into the Mcintosh C1100 which is gone.

Finally got around to starting the acoustic treatments in the room. These are from GIK. I had a custom print made from a WAV file of two of my favorite songs.

Weirdcuba 11-07-2019 03:27 PM

Very cool.

Beautiful and a very cool idea!

That's a really cool idea for wallcoverings, especially for us audio people! They look well done too, very nice.

It was really easy. Just upload the audio file to Soundviz, walk through the steps for colors, type and size. Then purchase an electronic download. I then sent that to GIK for an Art panel. If I was more artist and technology inclined, I might tried to do more to make it stand out.

Just one update this month. New Canton Ref 3K speakers. These thing are incredible. They just disappear into the room w the sound enveloping the listener.
