Small Format SACD Player
Downing-sizing the physical size of my system (won't mind doing the same with my waist-line, as well) and now have 10" x 11" amps, 7" x 6" preamp and an even smaller phono-preamp and other bits. Won't be able to shrink the TT/TA, but am wondering if there are any quality SACD players with a smaller format. I can live with full-width if slim enough, but would prefer smaller over-all.
As an alternative, perhaps an SACD drive with a separate DAC would be easier to find. |
I first thought, "Teac," but it looks like it only does DSD through the DAC. Otherwise, the transport just plays red book.

Glenn, I can't give you any advice on the SACD drive, but I can tell something about waist-lines. :D
Kidding aside: an slim Oppo 203 into a Bryston BDA-3 is an option some of us here use. |
Sony PS3?

Thanks for the tip on the Oppo 203. Wondering why you run it into the BPA-3 (is it simply a better DAC than the one in the Oppo)? What is the favored output from the 203 to the BPA-3? Have ordered the Oppo before they are all gone. |
McIntosh MCT80 is a SACD/CD transport, so you'll need a DAC. It's 11-1/2" wide x 5-7/8" high.

Thanks Glenn for the compliment! Carlos (cma29) replaced his Esoteric K-03 by a BDA-3 and feeds it with his Oppo. He's very happy. I do think the Bryston DAC is far superior to the one of the Oppo. |
