Cybershaft OCXO OP 19 clock with K-01xs - problems

Ivan was correct, as always! I used a 50-ohm Shunyata Clock BNC cable to connect to my Esoteric K-01xs and the sound is better than a Nordost Odin 75-ohm cable.

Be careful what you wish for...the sound is now very accurate (and precise) in the support of temporal resolution and dynamics, but with this improvement comes the ability to hear almost everything in Redbook PCM, SACD, UHQCD, HDCD and FLAC formats.

The clock may need some burn-in time, but the sound is now too revealing (and bright). I need to do some experimentation to improve the sound.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Glad to hear this improved things but it is no surprise for 2 reasons;

1. Use of a 75ohm cable on a 10mHz 50ohm clock circuit was a big issue and yields incorrect results. Cybershaft emits 50ohm and the K01xs expects it by default for 10mHz...

2. The Shunyata cables are the best clock cables out there IMHO, that is a huge upgrade.

FYI...both clock and cable need a couple hundred hours of burn in to sound their best. Also, don't turn your clock off...each time you do it will take a few hours to get back to best sound even though clock module will temperature stabilize after a few minutes and LED will glow white. Make sure K01Xs is off and not trying to sync until OCXO stabilizes.....

I have realized what was wrong, and now the sound is the best I have ever heard through this system.

You probably will not believe my stupidity as such, and I swear I adjusted the clock as directed, but it may be that we have poltergeists out here in the boonies of Michigan.

The clock was set to 75-ohms - when it was reset to 50-ohms and the frequency adjusted slightly, the result is spectacular!

My apologies...Thanks - Gerry

(P.S. - Ivan is always correct)

Now, will all the settings adjusted properly and the use of an expensive Shunyata 50-ohm BNC cable I have noticed an improvement in temporal dynamics but at a loss of low-frequency data.

Mid- to high frequencies are great, but I have lost the upper and lower bass frequencies, which return when I remove the clock from the system.

I have experimented with changing the frequencies on the adjustment knob but to no avail.

Any advice would be appreciated, otherwise, I am going to return the clock to the nice fellow at Cybershaft in Japan.

Kind regards- Gerry

I use a G01X with mine, and couldn’t possibly be any more pleased.

Gerry,

My results are like Ivan's albeit with P02 and D02.

I have owned several of these clocks with different levels of precision and have never experienced what you are writing about, quite the opposite results actually.

What changed in your system since you wrote about experiencing the best sound ever?
