800 D3 Speakers - Black or White
 

I realize its ultimately down to personal preference...

But wondering if anyone was considering black vs white for their floorstanding 800 series speakers at some point - and, over time, your color choice panned out (ie any regrets or wishes you decided, otherwise)?

I always figured i would get black - but am actually thinking of being more bold and going white...a little bit leery of what i might think over time, though!

I went with white. Gloss black looks nice, but dust, finger prints, micro scratches from cleaning and glare are not for me. That was also a reason I got rid of my gloss black subwoofers.

The white is classy IMO and not very common at all. I have always wanted white B&W speakers ever since seeing an original pair of B&W/Sony DM70s. (B&W DM70s sold under the Sony name)

I have had several white B&W speakers over the last several years. I have also had cherry, rosenut, red cherry, black oak.

My current B&W collection consists of 1 pair of cherry Nautilus 800s, white 800s with matching center, the bookshelves and a few pair of the 702s in other rooms.

I think all 3 colors offered by B&W can look great in spaces. The silver turbine heads are stunning in person IMO.

I went with Rosenut for my 800’s as we have a lot of timber in our home and I was worried about the cleaning required to keep the black dust free. White looks very clean and modern although it is probably more polarising just because it is different...

Rosenut was a close second for me on the 800s. I would have gone with them if I hadn't lived with cherry for the last 2 decades.

I am all Rosenut for 800D3 and DB1D subs. I feel like wood is a bit more long term and classic. It’s never gonna look like Bell Bottoms and a slight nick or scratch is more easily disguised.

Any HT consideration with picture reflection off white to consider? Not that gloss black doesn’t reflect some too.

I chose to use the white to contrast my slate wall. Also went with a white powder coated frame around my screen.

White is matte, but still “glows” off a large screen.

Gloss black is basically a big mirror.

Rosenut will still glow and have a gloss turbine head. Only way to hide the speakers is to have them behind your display plane. Either in walls, Acoustic transparent screen or a false wall.

IMO - You can’t go wrong with either. Black is classic, white is bold - both work in any decor

White has been a massive success. We have a minimalist house and it gets so many likes from guests. Also matches the lights. Not sonically crucial but domestically essential
