McIntosh Wish List 2023

McIntosh has been on a roll these past few years releasing a number of products. Some products earned positive reviews from publications and owners alike, while others left some fans and critics with more questions.

Kindly note this is NOT a bashing thread. So much negativity going on in the world so I’d like to call this more or less a Mac wish list. I’ll give it a go, feel free to add on.

1. A streaming, module dac with classic Mac meters. Perhaps an MCD12000 unit with no CD transport but with a screen like HiFi Rose to display album art! Beautiful!

2. An updated MC2301 to MC2401 with design elements of the MC451 dual mono. 200W dual/400W mono. Glorious!

3. An updated MA12000 with streaming built in. Hail to a high end integrated truly all-in-one-box!

Cheers :lurk:

Nope. Just the standard reissue MC75 monoblocks they made about 10yr ago. A bit like an MC275 split in half. Should never had sold mine.

An updated D1100 with the new DAC. For the life of me I don't understand why Mac put AES/EBU and MCT inputs on the MCD12000. Mac should have replaced them with an additional optical and coaxial input and added a volume control to the MCD12000. Of what use are the MCT and AES/EBU inputs, since the unit will already play SACD and CD? Mac is forcing a pre with the MCD12000 and unless you use the companion C-12000, the associated Mac pre becomes the weak link in the signal path.

Best

McIntosh is still making CD/SACD players, so they know that physical media isn't dead yet. I'd like to see Mac make another universal player to replace the MVP-891/901. I know it makes the component more complicated, but why should that be an obstacle?

Yes...this too please^^^^^^

Wishful thinking as they have removed & discontinued the MVP901 from all their Home Theater System rooms on the website, leaving no physical media device at all.......

I agree with you Charles that the MCT doesn't make much sense. I do use the AES EBU input from my Streamer and I prefer it over the coax. I have a nice Shunyata Sigma v2 AES EBU cable which is very nice.
