I said that as I've heard them described as thin. They don't sound thin at all to me. And I have bass augmentation and didn't try the tubes without that to see about their low end. Good to hear that they are all 'rounders.

Be sure you get readings for both sections when you buy a rectifier tube and that they are close together. These tubes are quite old and who knows where or how they were stored. I am going to be more selective going forward.

There are some 1974 NOS RCA 80's on the auction site. The seller has 10 of them.

I have a LN globe 80, very nice and cool looking, but I don't find it exceptional. YMMV.

I posted earlier that I thought my Sophia blue glass 6SN7 was problematic but the rectifier was the issue.

Well I bought the Fire-bottle 45 set, listened back and forth with my McIntosh MC30's for a few days. I contacted Dennis about a preamp and ordered the LP-27a which showed up yesterday and I am one happy camper!
While waiting on the 27 I listed my MC-30 ..........they just left along with my C30 preamp.

Congrats. I saw a post on another forum where someone sold vintage Macintosh after getting Inspired. What speakers are you driving?

Hoping I don't regret it in the future , but the inspire drives my Klipsch Belles with ease. Great soundstage!

I sold my MC 225 a couple of yeas ago. The more I listen to Dennis' amps and build my own, I find that not only do I like the sound better, but I also have complete control of the components used. Any vintage amp will have hundreds of 50 years and older parts, any one of which can fail or drift at any moment. So, my plan is to slowly get rid of my Mc gear, my Citations, etc. over time. Some still needs restoration, and of course a good listening evaluation. But I think all if it will eventually go...

I drove La Scalas with a Korneff 45. I don't think you will regret your choice.

I'm driving 98db, on paper, Heresy III's with a triode strapped Inspire. I recently added a HSU VTF-2 MK5 subwoofer. I did not think I needed a sub until I got one. The 350 watt RMS amplifier is plenty for efficient speakers.

Has anyone compared a Korneff 45 amp to an Inspire 45? I've got a Korneff, I'm curious about the different strengths/weaknesses.

Of course what would be REALLY COOL is if Dennis came out with a 45 amp that could be converted into a 2a3 amp and then into a 300b amp with the flip of a switch. Now THAT would be a tube-roller's dream
