Giscours Tube Question
Quick question for Giscours owners.
I need to replace my GE 6072 phone tubes. There are quite a few NOS 6072"A" tubes out there. I believe the "A" has something to do with the warm-up protocol. Can you tell me if it is OK to use a 6072 and 6072 "A" in the same circuit? Also, is it OK to use 2 of the 6072"A" tubes in the Giscours phono circuit? Thank you for the advice! Labpro |
6072A is a low noise 12ay7, early RCA Blackplates would be a good susititute or the far harder to find military Raytheon 6072 in coffin boxes...
Good Luck. |
Hi JPrest,
Thanks for getting back to me. I'll keep an eye out for the Raytheon tubes. Any reason what I cannot use a 6072 and 6072A (at the same time) in my phono section? Thanks again, Labpro |
No the noise floor difference is not that great, it's more that the "a's" were individvally tested to assure they meet spec
