Wyred 4 Sound Music Server - just arrived
Just got our demo music server in - WOW - it sounds great!! I thought my mac mini with pure music sounded great - but this is much better. It makes the mac with pure music sound lightweight and sort of metallic by comparison. A lot more bottom end and much richer sounding and airier in the midrange. A great piece (all of the above comments are based on going coax with a $99 digital cable to my Wyred Dac 2 - we're troubleshooting an issue that I have with the I2S - which should be even better - I'll report when I get it going). It's like a whole new system - I'm going back and re listening to everything.

Congrats! The Wyred music server is an interesting component that I find myself thinking about sometimes. Enjoy!

I'm interested in how you control it and the UI for managing the library.

trponhunter.......I read that the music server is fanless so I am curious, how quiet is the hard drive?

didn't even think about noise, as I haven't noticed any. You downlod "Mpad" on an ipad ($2.99) from the app store or you download and use logitech squeezebox controller. By the way - I have theI2S now working, and it's even better sounding than the cox - as it should be.

Really interested in reading more about this unit. I keep changing my mind - Bryston, Olive, Mac Mini,... I'm looking for an easy solution with fantastic sound...
I saw a proto of this server at RMAF... Mike |
FYI - I had a 2 year old olive in my store - a client owned it and brought it in - sonically, it was really, really weak versus the mac mini set up.
