Added a Fathom F110V2 I'm a happy camper!

A lot of changes headed my way so thought I'd update them as they happen. For now still have the MA5200 running until the MC452 and other goodies arrive but did have my sub arrive today so figured this was good to update as I go.

Ended up going with the JL Fathom F110V2 and WOW what a difference. First I have to say I'm not usually surprised by the weight of components, especially amps ect but the 70lbs of this thing definitely shocked me for a sub. Aesthetically couldn't be happier as it is in a beautiful piano black which matches my B&W diamonds.

Had a little trouble at first setting it up as I had to use the preamp outs on the 5200 and removing the jumpers at first stopped the mains from working but with a little experimenting got the right combo. At first just tried everything with the default settings and right away I could see and feel a massive difference but after using the calibration mode and putting the calibration microphone in the my listening position things changed for the better instantly. Quite an amazing tool. After the calibration I dialed in all the manual settings and just by this one addition I have a completely different system.

The additional bass is truly seamless and when called upon it delivers in spades. I live in a highrise so my place isn't large but it is an open loft style and my "music room" is basically most of my place. I ran through the paces with rock, jazz and now actually listening to Verdi Requiem and have a big smile on my face. Couldn't be happier and looking forward to my new arrivals next week.

Took the front grill off for the picture but when it is on with that piano black lacquer finish it is beautiful. Probably shouldn't have anything on it to be acoustically correct but love that carved figure :)

Gravity1, congrats on the new sub! I would put a soft cloth under that figure. If it "walks" around you may scratch that beautiful piano black finish. :)

Thanks. It has felt feet so should be ok. Maybe I'll add a few more.

Congratulations on the nice upgrade. How have you set your crossover points?

Still experimenting but doing the calibration was the most significant improvement. Now I have LP 75Hz Trim +.5 phase 135
