Ok, I finally have it to a point where I want to share with you :)

I only wish I could share how it sounds, which is pretty good! My equipment list is in my signature.

Sorry, my phone doesn't take the best pics, but you get the idea.

Wow! Sweet! Beautiful! Must sound amazing! Congratulations!

junker 03-03-2013 03:01 AM

Yeah, great set-up! Also, like the blend of tube and SS with the 452 and 2300. And with the D100 run as a source... Hope to get close to that with the new pre-amp.

Yes. More about the D100. Junker, on the other forum, you were going to review the D100. Haven't looked. Did you?

But this setup is just beautiful. I auditioned almost this exact system a couple weeks ago in the store. I could have listened for hours.

Rtan 03-03-2013 03:30 AM

Beautiful! Nicely done, the room and specially the toys.

Nothing formal written up. I'm sure Marc has a few things to say about the D100. It's really excellent, especially as a source, and for the $...

My balanced cable was just installed a few days ago, and now I'm thinking about getting the C2500 with it's built-it DAC, but the way Marc has it is very nice. And the speakers look great, too!

I haven't heard a LOT of dacs...several people on AA like the Schiit Bifrost, and various other "giant killers". I'll just say this: Unlike my venerable MF M1Dac, the D100 does an outstanding job of making digital sound more analog. And isn't that what they are all supposed to do? I find that it makes voices sound organic and natural. All that shrill crap that I have been used to for years is gone. What more can I want?

Plus, I had to fill a shelf in my rack :)

This may be the model system: quality, performance, syntergy, aesthics > perfect = nothing can be added or taken away.

Beautiful room and system. I really like the way you integrated the acoustic treatments in. My wife would never let me do that in my family/living room :tears:

Marc,

You have put together a beautiful setup and space to enjoy it. Congrats on a job well done!

I'm not married, but if I do get married, this is part of the deal. The stereo room is mine, and the garage filled with muscle cars is mine. Hands off! :smoking:

Very nice system, room and setup.

Tastefully done.

Being married might change your thinking in a few areas. :D

I've been there, done that. If I do it again, someone else is going to have to change their thinking first!

I was laughing so hard my wife came in and she laughed as well when I shared this

2fastdriving 03-04-2013 01:46 AM

Josh, I appreciate that you want my input, but I dont use a computer for my music directly. I have two digital sources, both going through coax into the d100: my nad cd player and my squeezebox touch.. the latter of which streams flac files from a windows server on my home network.

For now, this is doing the job, and I don't see the need to hook up a computer to usb.

That said, I mentioned before that I feel the d100 puts a nice organic natural spin on any digital content, which is precisely what I want.

junker 03-04-2013 01:49 AM

Yes absolutely! I accidentally posted to the wrong thread. You and Rick both have D100s so I'm always looking for your insight with the unit.

Yeah I was wondering what happened, the post I replied to disappeared! Haha, well at least you got my comments.

PMCH 03-04-2013 04:51 PM

Marc, love how neat and clean your system is.

2fastdriving 03-04-2013 11:37 PM

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone! I really appreciate it. Glad SOMEONE doesn't think I'm nuts!

Beautiful set up ! I love the room as well. How you like the McIntosh and B&W 802 diamond combo ? I am thinking to purchase the 802 diamond as well.

Does 802 Diamond has better mid range sound compare to D version ?

I never heard the previous version, so I can't comment. However, this has a very nice midrange in my opinion. It can be magical with the right placement and amplification.

In my opinion, I hit a home run by pairing Mac and B&W. A lot of people are doing it on this forum, so I felt like it would be worth a try, and I am not disappointed!

junker 03-05-2013 02:45 AM

Retail on those is $14k? The 452 is enough powah? Gosh, I hope so. That is another speaker on the short list...in Rosenut. But the black looks very nice as well IMO

trek737 03-05-2013 09:06 AM

Nice equipment you have there Marc. The acoustic panels blend in nicely with the room. Great job!

Retail on 802's is 15k I believe. Hell yes the 452 is enough power! It's awesome.

Oh, and Rosenut was my second choice...well I went back and forth! Both finishes are gorgeous.

Congrats, Marc! I would not change a thing. Enjoy your new-found tunes. :music:

I greatly appreciate everyone's comments! This is one of my favorites. I agree! Well I could take away my 452 and add some 601s...bad! Bad marc!
