Ivan has sold a few sets of 7T's. I'm sure you'll get some positive feedback soon.

The 7T speakers are a "must hear" item. After an long and costly journey with many other brands, I have found the Aerial 7T be very natural sounding with excellent sound through all ranges.
I have yet to hear a speaker costing 3 times more that sounds as good. |
did you audition the 6T's as well?
|
Very nice speakers, detailed, but warm, very nice midrange and can get low.

I, too, have listened to the 7T's and was blown away by their performance.
I have not listened to the 6's but live with a pair of 8A's every day. As much as I love my 8's, given the opportunity I'd upgrade to the 7T's in a heartbeat. |

I have the 7Ts mated to JL Audio E110s and IMHO one would have to spend waaaay more to get the neutral, dynamic, realism they reproduce. They are also relatively tolerant of average electronics and rooms. Soooo. Audition them if you possibly can!

All Ariel speakers are assembled in the U.S. using foreign and domestic components. Each unit is matched so they are within 1.5 db of each other. Hope this helps

I had a chance to listen to them at a recent audio show.
Beautiful fit and finish and they performed fabulously in a crappy hotel room. I can just imagine how well they would do in a proper environment. If I remember correctly, TAS did a review on them a few years ago and they LOVED them. Don't think you'll go wrong with that consideration. |
6T vs 7T
To the original poster -
2 years ago I had the chance to listen to both speakers, side by side as demo'ed by the Aerial designer and owner - Michael Kelly, in a shop in the Boston area (just north, in Nashua New Hampshire). I believe GreginNH also obtained his 7T's from the same shop. The 6T's are 2/3 of the total volume and 2/3 of the price of the 7T's. They use the same line of drivers (Scan-Speak of Denmark), enclosures designed here but fabricated in China, and crossovers designed and built in Boston (Wilmington to be precise). In comparison, the 7T's go deeper (28 vs 35 Hz) and have a better midrange. The enclosure is also more strongly built and better braced. Side-by-side, with several types of music, the differences were deep bass, which the 7T was noticeably better (but the music had to be selected to emphasize bass - Boz Scaggs 'Dig' album was used). The 7T's also had better dynamics - more punch. The 6T by virtue of the narrow profile has perhaps sharper imaging, but subtle. In our listening room, the narrow profile of the 6T's won out. I augment them with REL subs, which are located closer to the listening spot and work very well. Over all, if I were doing it again, I think the 7T's would win, and maybe skip the subs. But, no regrets. However, integrating the REL's was eye-opening (ear-opening?) for me at least. Hope this helps. |
