I'm driving my new Sopra No. 3's with an Audio Research Reference 150. Also have the ARC Reference 5SE and Reference CD9. With this equipment, the midrange is stunning.

Interesting to see how many different combinations people are using.

Denon AVR-X3300W driving a pair of 1038 BE IIs. Really getting the itch to ugrade to a dedicated Mcintosh stereo amplifier, however. The MC275 MK VI has caught my eye but not sure it will provide enough "oomph".

The MC276MkVI makes a real world 90wpc. With a 93db sensitivity, you should be good. And, worse comes to worse, you can always go with a pair of MC275s as mono-block amps at 150wpc+. I'm getting ~35wpc in triode with my amp and is plenty with my 89db 1008Be's.

Focal 1007Be driven by McIntosh MA6600 integrated. Really sounds nice.

I've had a McIntosh MC452 driving my Focal Sopra No2's now for about 20 months and am just smitten with the accuracy, detail and soundstage. That amp just sounds so "musical" driving a speaker with such capability, and its smoothness makes that tweeter just sing (not shout).

I have a feeling that the MC452 will go down as one of McIntosh's best amplifiers, joining the 2205 of yesteryear.

One of my last upgrades was to replace my solid state preamp (McIntosh C50) with a tube unit (McIntosh C2500) and that made a further improvement in the "musicality" of the system.

After having my Sopra's for about six months, one night while doing extensive listening it dawned on me that the speakers finally sounded "relaxed". Though they sounded just awesome to me after the initial break in, at around the six month mark, they really seemed to "settle in".

No plans to look at other amps or speakers.

Enjoy!

Sopra 3s with an Nad M12 amp with M22 preamp. Great combination for the money. Sounds great to me, very relaxed but still very detailed. Plays at or above any volumes I listen at without any distortion. I may upgrade one day to see what these speakers are truly capable of but no urgent reason to, currently very satisfied.

I am driving my Scala V1 with Devialet 250. Sounds really nice, but I am saving to upgrade to Devialet 800 (by combining with another 250).

The Scalas are revealing to no limits.
