SACD Revisited

This morning, I decided to fire up my SACD player as it has been a great while since I have played a SACD.

It reminded of just how good this technology can be. Time to play a few more discs.

Greg are you still using the Luxman SACD player?

I’ve been playing Junior Wells Hoodoo Man Blues w/ Buddy Guy; APO SACD. fantastic!

I had a long jam session with the Luxman player feeding Toobes yesterday. I was feeding it DSD128 from the laptop of some of the most gorgeous recordings from Sound Liason in my collection. Sure, SACD can and does sound great but none of the SACD I own can even come close to the experience of the Sound Liason recording and the "5.64MHz" being displayed on the Luxman front panel. Talk about audio nirvana! :music: I love the Luxman player utility software that makes it so easy to play the files!

I expect to start ripping several of mine (mostly classical and jazz) once a just-purchased rip-capable used Sony BDP arrives here in what's projected to be a week-and-a-half. Will be interested in hearing how the rips compare sonically to the discs played on my long-in-tooth Oppo.

Yep. This is the one format (although there are likely others) where I wish there was much more content. Amazing reproduction technique (assuming good recording and mastering in the first place, etc)
