The Listening Room, Part 1 of ?

Hello

Finally close to reaching my first phase of building to what I now call my "listening lounge", thanks in part to the many people I've met along the way and a plug to Ivan who no doubt gets it.

My approach is to build a room that everyone can enjoy, have fun and with music playing in the back drop.

Recently added from Ivan, is a Furutech 50 filter used on my JL Sub, and with no doubt has reduced a little hum to nothing and has helped in a tighter bass sound as well. Ivan is setting me up with a stand, that to me is a no brainer and can't get here quick enough. Also will be adding Furutech's to my preamp and amp, then will see about Direct Stream and the Memory Player. Stillpoints mini's have been added to all equipment but the amp, where I used HRS, mainly to get clearance height and Focal speakers which we are looking at.

Having cabinets is tricky. Each cabinet has internal fans, that are not an option, and I added thicker bumpers to the inside of the slow close doors to support air flow, the temp probe measures 74 degrees. I'm trying to figure out if I really want to drill holes to channel the balanced cables for the JL, right now they come out of the cabinet but the door is cracked maybe 3/4", not the end of the world but it can be made better.

I have some vicoustic panels coming soon, but not sure what I want to do here yet. There is a ton of cherry crown moulding on the ceilings and paneling along with a listening couch and carpet, I wonder what this really does to help the sound as sounds good now, no echo or dead spots, can it get better? The room is about 12Wx25Lx9H.

Sure there's more, but will post later.

Enjoy Sunday, comment at will!Attachment 51243Attachment 51244Attachment 51245Attachment 51246

Superb. Well done.

As for a acoustic panels, just play around with them. I installed a few GIK panels and then decided to see if more would help. I bought some plain 1" Roxul insulation panels at Lowe's. Then temporarily hung them on the wall with those 3M Command hooks that pull off cleanly. I did some experimenting with various locations and thicknesses (by doubling them).
It was a good way to experiment without a lot of money, and the panels I didn't use went into the attic for additional insulation.

Your room has a very warm, inviting feel to it.
