D'Agostino Momentum Stereo vs Dartzeel 108
Looks like the D'Agostinino monoblocs share a lot in common with the big Dart monos, in technical design (Limited feedback, high output impedance) and in sonics as described by MF in his recent review.
That makes the D'agostino stereo comparable to the Dart 108 not in power but in overall sonic character. Looking for comments on how these top stereo amps compare in sonics. Members that had the luxury of hearing both pls comment. |
They have one thing in common, which I found interesting. Both designers keep the amp always on, even in "standby". If you put music through your darTZeel, even with the on/off button switched off, it'll play. Very queitly, but it'll play, doing about 2W.
One of the things I love about my darTZeel is that I don't need to wait for it. I switch it on in the morning, and within 5 minutes, it's already playing its best. alexandre |

I am hoping the D'Agostino stereo/monos will be the poor man's Dartzeel 458's. |

In todays day and age when high end prices are running amok , the Momentums are priced to offer a better, price VS performance than many of its similarly performing brethren. Fremer reviewed them favourably with the Dart-458's , which if I am not mistaken is nearer the 200k retail mark . This does sort of bestow on the Momentums a best buy tag . I think this is what Joe meant when he meant "poor man's amp" , in a relative context .

Sorry Thimios and Joe! I didn't mean to get the discussion off-track!
