The Handmaid's Tale
 

I just finished watching this 10 part series on Hulu--very gripping and well done. If you are not familiar with the novel, the story takes place in the near future where most women are infertile and the few who can bear children are enslaved. It's sort of a feminist 1984. It's been some 30 years since I read the novel, but I don't recall some scenes that the series depicts. Most dramas take a few liberties, and every scene certainly seems plausible. Not for the faint of heart: some graphic sex, violence, and language--strictly for mature adults!

Just finishing the second season. This is a gripping, deep and disturbing look at what might have or could be. Great drama that is not what you watch if you want light and flowery. Nothing funny in it. Thought provoking. Can’t stop watching it.

We agree. It is one of the better dramas on TV now. Interesting ending for Season 2.

How many of you have read the novel? I did when it first came in 1985, and I'm re-reading it now. A terrifying work.

I am thinking about getting the novels. Winter is Coming...
