Gibson / Esoteric

Hello AA’s:

I did not realize Gibson Brands who owns Gibson Guitars has a large stake in Teac/Esoteric and several others companies may have a financial challenge.

PS Audios Copper Edition is where I picked this up from and will look for more information.

Yes..ever since the sale of Esoteric to Onkyo/Integra for Sales, Marketing and day to day OPS. The team in Japan that drives all innovation and manufacturing is undisturbed and in great shape from what my friends there tell me...

Today’s music is not what it was growing up in the 70s and 80s, and more before that period of time, instruments seem to be taking it on the chin.

Gibson was reporting sales of 170,000 guitars a year worldwide - that’s still a lot of guitars.

Since the bank is so nervous they typically decide to implement payment penalties in hard times versus helping find a solution for both parties. I’m sure at one point the bank was proud to tout Gibson as a client.

Paul Allen would be a perfect fit to come in and buy the banks notes at a discount and oversee a positive turnaround - going to work on getting him aware of a potential opportunity.

Gibson is a part of American culture and must be saved.

One of the problems is where will those guitars be sold, Amazon?

Guitar Center Faces Imminent Bankruptcy

As you mention, kids don't want to learn instruments anymore, it's all just synth instruments put together in a DAW if they want to "play music."

That's why sample pads are so popular; kids have always wanted to play the same music as their favorite bands, and their favorite bands rarely use actual instruments anymore.

As Gibson files for bankruptcy, are people falling out of love with guitars?

The key is Gibson wants to shed their consumer electronics business, which means uncertainty for their brands like Teac/TASCAM and by extension, Esoteric.

I've recently had a chat with Esoteric Japan. They say their business is good, profitable, and is absolutely not affected by Gibson.
